Installation and adjustment of closed scraper system (Part 1)

in recent years, the application of closed scraper system in flexographic printing is increasing. In order to help flexographic printing operators understand the closed scraper system in depth, this paper will introduce some skills and suggestions on the installation, adjustment and cleaning of closed scraper system. It must be noted here that when performing the following operations, you must follow the recommendations and guidelines of the closed scraper system supplier and refer to the operation manual

basic characteristics of closed scraper system

the ink scraping mode of closed scraper system is shown in Figure 1. The basic characteristics of the system mainly include the following aspects

(1) with unique chamber structure and double-layer ink sealing design, the ink delivery effect is better, which can actively promote its development and save ink

(2) it effectively controls the evaporation of a large number of solvents in the ink, improves the working environment and reduces air pollution. Since most of the area where the ink is located is sealed, only a small part in contact with the corrugated roller is exposed, so the evaporation of the solvent is greatly reduced

(3) it has good adaptability to the printing speed. Regardless of the printing speed, the transfer amount of ink is fixed, so the printing quality is stable

(4) combined scraper can be used, and the replacement of scraper is fast and simple at present

of course, there are still some problems in the closed scraper system. For example, the contact angle and the degree of freedom of pressure of the closed scraper are very small, and the requirements for the uniformity of ink scraping are very high, and the sealing is required to be good, otherwise ink leakage is easy to occur. In addition, the cleaning operation after printing is troublesome, especially the residual ink or varnish in the dead corner is difficult to remove, but the application of automatic cleaning device solves this problem to a certain extent

1. cutting scraper

there are many types of scraper at present. No matter which type of scraper is used, you must first carefully check whether there are small burrs, small notches or other defects on the scraper blade, which may have a negative impact on the printing or polishing process. Moreover, the blade of the scraper must be clean

when cutting the scraper, be sure to wear protective gloves and protective glasses, and use special cutting tools to ensure that the cutting edge is straight and tidy. More importantly, the "heart" of new energy vehicles is equipped with Chinalco Luotong material to ensure the appropriate length of the scraper after cutting

2. Install a new scraper

loosen the screws on the knife clip, wear protective glasses and gloves, carefully take the old scraper out of the knife clip and the ink chamber, and send it to the designated area for proper disposal

next, dip a soft cloth with an appropriate amount of special cleaning agent or hot water, and gently wipe away the residual dry ink or varnish in the knife clip, so that the new scraper can be installed flatly in the ink chamber to prevent the leakage of ink or varnish during operation

when installing a new scraper, make sure that its length is appropriate and there are no defects, and then tighten and fix the knife clamp. If the scraper is bent or loosened, it will not only affect the service life of the scraper, but also the sealing strip is prone to leakage. The leakage at the sealing strip is often caused by the excessive pressure of the scraper on the corrugated roller. Therefore, it is very important to ensure that the sealing strip and scraper are installed correctly

3. Install the sealing strip

carefully check whether the width of the sealing strip is appropriate. Some sealing strips often have some small burrs, or have been damaged during the cutting process. The sealing performance of sealing strips of different materials is also different. Therefore, it is necessary to consult and understand from the supplier which type of sealing strip should be adopted and why this kind of sealing strip should be used

when cutting the sealing strip, it is also necessary to ensure the accuracy of its size. Even a 1/4 inch deviation will seriously affect its tightness. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the sealing strip matches the closed scraper system used

in addition, the surface of both ends of the textured roller used with the closed scraper system should be uncut, that is, the surface of the parts where both ends of the spinning roller contact the sealing strip is smooth, which can minimize the wear of the sealing strip and effectively prevent the leakage of ink or varnish from the sealing strip during the transfer process. The main function of the sealing strip is to prevent the leakage of ink or varnish. Therefore, before printing, be sure to check whether the position of the sealing strip and scraper is appropriate
